San Buenaventura State Beach

San Buenaventura State Beach occupies approximately 2 miles of Ventura's waterfront. It extends from Marina Park in the Ventura Harbor to the Ventura City Pier in the north. This beach features a 520-meter-long (520 feet) pier with a restaurant, snack bar, and bait shop. People frequent this beach for swimming, surfing, and picnicking. This is the beginning of the Omer Rains Bike Trail network, which connects to other beaches in the vicinity.

This location hosts a variety of unique events, including the triathlon, Pirate Festival, the "Seaside Invitational" cross country meet, the State Junior Lifeguards Program held each summer, and volleyball competitions.

During the breeding season, the nesting of the Snowy plover is monitored and temporary informational/warning signs and fences (or ropes) are built around nesting places. To aid in the recovery of the bird, non-native flora that threatened the beach habitat has been eradicated, and beachgoers are informed about the sensitivity of dunes and other sandy regions in the vicinity.

The area of this beach in front of the park's main entrance is the widest. Between the park and the dunes, there is a paved pedestrian and bicycle path at this spot. This trail, the Omer Rains Bike Trail, leads north to the pier and all the way to Emma Wood State Beach, which is 8 miles away, making it an excellent route for a bike ride.
