The Robert J. Lagomarsino Visitor Center at Channel Islands National Park

The Robert J. Lagomarsino Visitor Center at Channel Islands National Park is one of Ventura's most magnificent sights. The visitor center, which is often referred to as America’s Galapagos features a bookstore, a display of aquatic marine life, and exhibits highlighting the distinctive characteristics of each park island. The 25-minute park video "A Treasure in the Sea" is presented throughout the day in the theatre (a closed-caption film available upon request).

The Channel Islands National Park, also known as "The American Galapagos," consists of five extraordinary and inaccessible islands off the coast of Ventura: Anacapa, Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa, San Miguel, and Santa Barbara. The Channel Islands and surrounding waters are home to approximately 2,000 species of flora and animals, including 145 endemic species, such as the Island Fox. Each of the islands, which became a National Park in 1980, is a fascinating universe unto itself. The Channel Islands offer world-class diving, hiking, kayaking, sea cave exploration, photography, snorkeling, camping, wildlife, and wildflower viewing, as well as uninterrupted time with family while resting to the sounds of nature.
